Dudlo pulls out a picture of what looked like a hummer, but it was less hairy and seemed to be standing upright. "This is Joe Iuviene," says Mr. Dudlo. "He's an Urth guy, an architect. Looks pretty good, right?"

Portrait of a Portrait of Joe

Dudlo explains that Iuviene's wife, Barbara (also an Urthen) wanted the portrait done to celebrate her husband's 50th birthday and so that everyone on the Internet could see how swell he looked. She also wanted people to know what a nice guy he was. Barbara told about the time Joe drove 30 miles to rent a rubber gorilla suit so he could entertain the kiddies at the Spencertown Annual Halloween Party. "Unfortunately," she admitted, "when Joe walked in the door he said 'Hi' to 5 year-old Katie Conklin, and the child spent the rest of the evening crying in her mother's arms." Katie, obviously a sensitive soul, was not even reassured when Joe took off his mask.

The story, together with some information about Mr. Iuviene's firm, the Architectural Bureau (archbur@capital.net) in Columbia County, New York, was published on the Internet in Adnob's Whatever. "And Joe Iuviene is an example of a totally satisfied customer," beams Dudlo. "He said we did a terrific job even though the photos we used were, in his words, '... not my best angle.' High praise indeed from a professional who, no doubt, knows the difference between the Doric and the Ionic, among other things"
